This arcade, which connects Nagarekawa St. and Takegawara Onsen and is 70 m long and 3 m wide, is made of wood with a glass ceiling. It was built in 1921 so that tourists could walk to get to Takegawara Onsen from Kusunoki Port (the old Beppu Port), which used to be near this arcade, without getting wet by rain. This is said to be currently the oldest wooden arcade in Japan and was designated as a Heritage of Industrial Modernization in 2009.
